This place was already frequently visited by influential
sets of the former Roman Empire and became so popular that summer
and winter residences were established.
Its remnants can be admired still today in and around Polace.
The name "Polace" is the Croatian word for "palace"
and gives an impression how the Roman personalities from government,
trade and army spent their holidays.
Polace offers shopping possibilities as well as cosy restaurants
and cafés. Particularly to mention is the village-own bakery
with its Dalmatian specialities.
